The Collector is a 1965 film directed by William Wyler, based on the 1963 novel by John Fowles. It stars Terence Stamp as the lonely bank clerk Frederick Clegg who's hobby of collecting butterflies turns much darker when he wins a large sum of money. He stalks London art student, Miranda Grey (Samantha Eggar), before kidnapping her and holding her against her will in the cellar of his newley acquirred large country house.
